International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. Today we’re shining a light on a few of the inspirational women within our Village, for International Women’s Day.

Natasha is the owner of Alterations Now at Corio Village.

To Natasha, International Women’s Day represents what all women have done together to get to the amazing place they’re at today. She said it’s important to acknowledge and honour the importance of the contributions of women, so young girls around the world can step into greatness by following the example of women.

Natasha’s role models growing up were her Mum, her friends and Coco Chanel – a French fashion designer and businesswoman. Following in Coco Chanel’s footsteps, Natasha turned her love of fashion, sewing and tailoring into a career for herself.

The advice Natasha wants to offer young women who are considering a career like hers simply is to ‘do it’! She said it’s fun to learn and although it can be challenging the longer you stick at it the better you will get. When it comes to role models, Kylie has been inspired by several woman who have made strides in their respective fields. Serena Williams with her unparalleled tennis skills and her outspokenness on issues of social justice. Kylie Minogue with her strong dedication to her career. And last but definitely not least, Kylie has been inspired by her Mum who offered support and encouragement.

Kylie is passionate about her career in retail and that comes from her love of communicating with people. Kylie plans on staying in retail for the rest of her working career, she finds it fulfilling to help customers and provide excellent customer service to people of all ages.

The advice Kylie wants to offer young women who are considering a career like hers is to give it your best shot and be true to yourself. If you enjoy what you do, you will be more likely to excel at it!

Mini possesses the qualities of a strong leader – she is passionate, motivated and inventive. This is why she thrives in her management role at Blax.

The advice Mini wants to offer young women who are considering a career like hers is to practice your communication skills, learn to delegate and show confidence. These are three leadership skills that you will need to lead your employees in an efficient manner.
