Do I need to make an appointment for the Justice of the Peace document signing service?
No, there is no booking system for the document signing service. This is a free service that is run on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.
What services does the Justice of the Peace provide?
A Justice of the Peace is trained to act as an independent and objective witness to documents used for official or legal purposes, our Justices of the Peace can assist you by:
- attesting the execution of a document
- witnessing a statutory declaration
- witnessing an affidavit for use in court
- certifying true copies of an original document
- certifying a person’s identity
What documents should I bring to the Justice of the Peace?
It is important to have all the necessary paperwork ready for the Justice of the Peace. To save time, you can complete the content of the statutory declaration or affidavit before attending the appointment, but your documents cannot be pre-signed. Document signing must be done in the presence of the Justice of the Peace.
You will need to show valid identification (e.g. driver’s licence or passport) so the Justice of the Peace can confirm your identity. Please be mindful that Justice of the Peace’s do not provide legal advice.
What days is the Justice of the Peace document signing service available?
The Justice of the Peace document signing service at Corio Village is available every Thursday from 9:30am to 1pm. This service is not available on Public Holidays.
Where is the Justice of the Peace service located?
The Justice of the Peace service is located in the Centre between Prouds and Smokemart/Giftbox close to the food court. The best Centre entrance to use for this service is near Australia Post and Bendigo Bank.
